My son and I went for an overnight hike this Memorial Day weekend. We stayed at Goshen Pond in the Wharton State Forest.
We set up camp, hiked some of the trails, found a few critters and tested some of our new hiking equipment. The Jetboil works great. Boiling water in about 1 minute!
Great pictures and it is so peaceful at Goshen’s Pond. See any beavers or their dams yet? They do habitat that area
No beavers. They used to have a big den but it’s gone. It is very peaceful and quiet, except for all the frogs at night.
Thanks for sharing the good pics. Many trails?
Thanks for looking Frank.
Wharton State forest is a vast 122,463 acres. It is the largest single tract of land within the NJ state park system. Although Goshen Pond is a small part of it, there are trails that start here and end up many miles away.
🙂
Goshen Pond looks filled with potential for many genre of photography – good stuff.
Thank you. I am no photographer, but I do agree. Much water, nature, plants and animals and historic sites to see.
This looks so peaceful. Great reminder that we don’t camp enough.
